gaspppp [Feb. 8th, 2010|09:33 pm]
[Current Mood | bored]

Okay I'm sorry I really don't know what has gotten into me haha.

But come on, I'm sure everyone loves this. How I miss those days man. Ziana Zain, Awie and Erra Fazira and the likes... Unlike the whole load of crap we see on tv these days.

6 out of 12 months away from home but I still wanna be a (hot) P.W. [Feb. 7th, 2010|04:30 pm]
[Current Mood | calm]

So Friday was my last day at the Airshow and I must say that it had been an interesting experience. I didn't have much to do most of the time but the people-watching and meeting new people were great! From this short stint, I think I've decided that I would prefer to have a Westerner as my employer, rather than a local. Mostly it's because I like their work ethics. And also the fact that they're very sociable and don't hesitate to give compliments where they are due. I really think compliments make a person more confident and motivated... Just not excessively though.

Oh I also found out that my boss is actually English instead of American but he's been living in the US for years. He totally reminds me of Mr Elwin (even the shoes and his skeptism), just maybe a slightly nicer version. He asked me what I call good-looking boys so I told him I call them 'hot' and he said in England they're called 'fit'. He's kinda crazy too cos he wanted to 'hook me up' with two Indian boys!! Like from India Indian. I quite violently rejected his offer duhhh. They were so not hot and totally not my type! But overall he's a nice person lah and fun to talk to. He entertains me whenever I talk about Maroon 5, Grey's Anatomy, hot rugby boys, Nadal and my other 4875020 frivolous fantasies haha. He also gave me $50 on the last day of work :D For "being a good girl... but it would have been $60 if you had smiled more". MEHHHH.

Which brings me to my next point. I honestly don't understand why of late, the most random of people would just come up to me just to tell me to smile or to not look so fierce. And I mean people I hardly/don't even know. It's kinda annoying at times but also rather amusing? I wasn't even being angry at that point of time.. I guess it's just my face lah. You know at times when I'm doing nothing, my boss would just suddenly go "You look very stern there young lady... SMILE!" or  like "You're doing it again! Come on, give me a smile."  And it makes me feel like an idiot everytime he says that. I mean I can't be perpetually smiling like a fool, right!

Screw the SYFC booth la, it's so much HOTTER outside )

And yuppp, this whole Airshow thing has made me more determined than ever to marry a pilot in the future haha. It's not being delusional... Really.

I got a call yesterday and I hope I'll get my 'dream job' tomorrow. And I think you're my lucky star.

Singapore Airshow Day 1 [Feb. 2nd, 2010|11:30 pm]
[Current Mood | happy]

I think I had quite a good day at work today. My employer's a 60-year-old American from Illinois and he's like the cutest person ever. He's quite a slacker so my job was pretty easy today... Like get people's namecards, arrange brochures, get coffee for him and most of all, just sit down and talk to him. He curses at the littlest things! It's kinda entertaining though. He helped me with the brochures for a while and he was all "Oh what a labooorious job.. This is such a pain in the arse!" Crazy old man hahaha.

Oh he asked me why I decided to work at the Airshow.

"So are you interested in aircrafts or do you like the fancy shows...?"
"Oh me? I'm interested in pilots and yeah the shows.. but well mostly the pilots."
"So you like pilots huh.. Hahaha. Well I think they have bloody big egos and they really suck at everything else except that one thing which they're very, very good at. Which is flying. You know, these pilots are really enthusiastic and passionate about what they do, it's infectious!"

I was so happy and excited! I thought he has gonna ignore me but he actually told me some more pilot stories which were really cool. My employer's company deals with flight simulation and all that jazz... So I asked him how it actually works and how they build it. After a loong but highly interesting explanation, he paused, looked at me and said rather amusedly said, "You're really interested in all these pilot stuffs aren't you!... Hahaha" And I was like, HELL YEAHHH!!! Just not out loud though :P

I hope I'd have more interesting things to do tomorrow and get to walk around outside to check out the aircrafts. It's really cool to people-watch here... All the big shots in suits from many different coutries. But my favourite thing about this job would probably be the Singapore Youth Flying Club booth which is just down the aisle... And you know what that equals to, right?

Twist of fate [Feb. 1st, 2010|05:04 pm]
[Current Mood | annoyed]

I don't know whether to be thankful or offended. If you remember, a week ago I talked about how I wasn't gonna get the Airshow job. And now guess what. The person in-charge called me a few hours ago to ask if I could work from Tuesday to Friday. And today's like what, freaking Monday?! So last minute!!

I'm offended because when I really wanted the job, they very easily brushed me aside... now when things got crazy and they're beyond desperate for people THEN they called me. I'm annoyed also because I don't exactly have formal attire to wear for 4 days! I guess I could borrow from my mum but she is so much taller than me. Her blouses are too long and rather big, which makes me  look kinda sloppy and I hate it. Another issue I have with this last minute thing is that I end at 6.30pm. And on Thursday, I have some family stuff all the way at Jurong and must be there at 7.30pm, so how the hell do I get there on time? Cabbing from Changi to freaking Jurong would be CRAZY, period. I'm guessing it would cost me about $30 (or more) what with the distance + peak hours + possibly a traffic jam. Sighh. And it also looks like I'd have to get my Killers' refund only either on Saturday or Sunday latest.

I swear ah, if it's not for the money I would have just gone "Fuck you" and hung up.
